What We Do
Open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., women and children of The Living Room are served a nutritious hot breakfast and lunch in a warm and safe atmosphere. The Staff Members provide information and referral services that are tailored to meet the individual needs of the women and their children.
We rely on Staff and our many wonderful Volunteers to make the Programs possible. Donations also…especially those on our Urgent Needs List help us meet the most basic needs of our clients. Our Staff and Volunteers gather with us at various Special Events which promote The Living Room in the community and set up fun events which support our services.
In 2008 The Living Room provided services to 927 homeless and at-risk women and children, with a total number of visits of 18,019. Over 24,000 individual meals were prepared and served, and 10,854 referrals to other community services were made. And, our trained and dedicated volunteers gave 6,346 hours of their time and energy in support of our various programs.
The entire community benefits when all its residents are secure in their basic human needs. The Living Room seeks to improve the quality-of-life of the women and children we serve in all areas of the human experience — mind, body, and spirit. With funding from private and corporate donations and grants, The Living Room Staff, Board Members, and Volunteers are able to provide services to an ever-increasing population of at-risk women and children.
