Each year volunteers donate thousands of hours in volunteer time assisting the staff of The Living Room in providing services to the participants. The Living Room is heavily dependent on the help of hundreds of volunteers to fulfill its mission.
Desk Services: Volunteers greet participants as they arrive and provide them with necessities such as tooth paste and tooth brushes, shampoo, etc. Volunteers retrieve mail for the participants and supervise telephone and computer access among the participants.
Food Service: These volunteers serve a hot breakfast or lunch to the participants. Food service volunteers prepare the service area, serve the meals, clean service area, wash cutlery, etc. after the meal is completed.
Preparing meals: Volunteer chefs and sous chefs are needed to prepare a hot breakfast and lunch each day. The chefs strive to prepare delicious and nutritious meals each day.
Mother and Child Program: Volunteers are needed to work with the Children’s Coordinator to provide a safe, comforting environment for children of The Living Room participants.
Art & Crafts: Volunteers are needed to assist participants with a variety of art projects. Volunteers can also share skills such as knitting, crocheting, or embroidery.
Special Events: Each year The Living Room holds various fund raisers, participates in the Human Race, hosts local play and musical performances and coordinates special events for our participants. Volunteers are needed to perform a number of tasks in these areas.

If you’d like to share your skills and talents with the women and children of The Living Room, or if you would like to learn more about the organization, please contact Caroline Bañuelos, Volunteer Coordinator at 707-321-0976. She will answer your questions and schedule you to come in for a tour.
