Who We Serve

We would like to introduce you to three extraordiinary women who have defied the odds and have secured housing and income. Jean’s story is not unlike many women served at The Living Room. Women of all ages, races, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds experience homelessness for a multitude of reasons. Many of the women we serve have fled domestic violence; resulting in a loss of income or economic support. Substance abuse and mental or physical illness are also causes of homelessness. There are as many reasons for homelessness as there are women and children who are without homes. Because of the current economic crisis, we are seeing more and more women suddenly without homes due to foreclosure. Many of these women were stunned to find themselves homeless and in need of the services provided by The Living Room.
